Santa Barbara -- when in town, get the local paper
Here are some tips when in Santa Barbara:

1.  Get the local paper.

2.  Visit Isidor Gonzalez' place on Milpas:  La Super Rica

Here is a review that we found from 2008:  http://www.foodgps.com/la-super-rica-santa-barbara-ca-saturday-february-16-2008/
Let's quote from www.FoodGPS.com:

The salsa bar offered bottomless containers of spicy red salsa, tangy green salsa and fresh-made pico de gallo. At La Super-Rica, they don’t strain the seeds, so expect some spice.

While there’s some really good Mexican food in Los Angeles, it’s still worth driving 180 miles round trip to experience La Super-Rica at least once.

Hours:
Sunday-Thursday: 11 AM - 9 PM
Friday-Saturday: 11 AM - 9:30 PM

We were introduced to La Super Rica by the owner of Santa Barbara's News-Press.  Our friend Arthur von W. gives a tour of the location on our youtube channel.  www.youtube.com/roadlovers

The balmy climate of Santa Barbara is also worth the visit.  We stayed in the Peppertree Best Western on State Street, just five blocks west of the delightful Harry's Plaza Bar.   (Yes, another recommendation:  try the

Breakfast?  Go to Sambo's   -- no, it's not the politically incorrect book, it's Sam and Bo who created the place years ago.  They liked the combination of their names.   Sambos.biz, no reservation needed:  216 west Cabrillo Blouvard
Santa Barbara, CA 93101

Just enjoy the view.
