There's so much false information about losing belly fat on television and in magazines. So much of this false information is around that it's even made it's way into the realm of "conventional wisdom." This is not a good thing because it leads many people to go about trying to get rid of their excess belly fat in all of the wrong ways. I hope with this article to clear the air of the nonsense and replace it with the real facts.

The truth is you will not lose your belly fat by doing abdominal exercises. Regardless of what kind of exercises you do or what kind of machine you use. It just doesn't work like that. What you can do with ab exercises is to strengthen your muscles and that's a good thing. Nothing wrong with doing that. But it will not burn fat efficiently. Even if you do a 1000 situps a day that will not have a great impact on your belly fat. It is also not a very efficient way to increase your abdominal strength but that's another subject for another article.

The best way to lose belly fat is to actually start a diet program which is designed to boost the metabolism so that your body burns fat faster. Does that mean you shouldn't exercise? Of course not. Exercise should be an important part of your fitness planning (in particular I recommend doing regular strength training.) But the most efficient way to burn fat is not with exercise but w
ith diet.

The Day Off Diet is a diet program which has been created to both be easy to follow and to boost the metabolism for faster fat burning. Amazingly it has accomplished both of these goals with the same mechanism: A regular "calorie spiking" day off from dieting.

Basically it works like this: Every week you get to take one day off your diet. On this day you can eat anything you want (including all of the junk food you may be craving.) On the other six days you go back to following the "green light foods" program that makes up the core of the diet.

This day off gives your body a "calorie spike" which tricks your body into thinking it's actually getting too many calories and thus it boosts your metabolism so that you burn even more fat on the other six days of the week!

Of course being able to eat anything you want once a week also has the effect of allowing you to satisfy the cravings that you get with other diets. Satisfying those cravings that knock people off course usually is another key element. In this way this diet plan actually "kills two birds with one stone." Not only is it the best diet for losing belly fat, it's also probably the easiest diet program to follow and to stick with.

Too often people don't consider that. They don't think about whether they will actually be able to stick with a diet until completion. That's a huge mistake! Why start a diet unless you are going to finish it?
